Simon’s Coffee House, 1736 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA 02138 Phone: 617-497-7766 Website: None Other Reviews: Pure Coffee Bog Our Review: We visited Simons and found a small unpretentious place that immediately gave us a good vibe. Meaning everything seemed authentic from the funky decor, to the people, the smells… it all said this is a good place to be, make yourself at home and enjoy. We settled in at a table by the window, although it was tough to resist the seating outside by the sidewalk (I think the smell of the excellent coffee kept us in). … The menu was diverse but not overy so. On this day I felt like going old school and had an almond biscotti and this coconut macaroon thing that looked just too good to pass up. For caffination I asked the barista, Alison to pull me a shot. Now I’m sure you’ve all seen baristas who are just machine operators and then there are those who are artists ..who manage to dial in and hit the perfect combination of machine & coffee. Alison is one of those artists (check out her profile in our coffee people page). While Alison was working on orders ahead of mine (btw many of my photos came out blurry because she was moving so fast) she told me that Simon’s was moving to a blended espresso known as “the villian”. .. Bottom line, the biscotti was slightly above average, the coconut macaroon was really good and the espresso was exceptional (I was especially fond of it’s citrusy notes and body), turns out “the villian” is something I really enjoyed. EnCofee gives Simon’s a Rating of Four Cups
